WINDSOR CHAIR WITH BERRIES

WINDSOR CHAIR WITH BERRIES

This style of Windsor chair dates to the early 18th century. With its splayed wooden legs and multi spindled back, it combines strength and durability with classic elegance.  A perfect contender for upcycling.  It reminds me of a time when kitchens had solid fuel stoves, whistling kettles and was the cosiest room in every home.

Covered in layers of peeling gloss paint, the prep, for this glorious chair involved a heat gun to strip it back and then multiple coats of thinned primer. We chose Pantry White eggshell for the base and then added the freehand berries in acrylic paints to match the clients colour palate. Finally, a thin layer of oil-based matt vanish will protect the design from wear and tear.
