OCHRE LEAF DRAWERS
This client was of the view that these drawers ‘owed her nothing’. They had been in her possession for many years and had only escaped the skip owing to their charming handles with the little black circular inlay. She was redecorating a guest bedroom with a brass bed and a lovely ensuite shower room. Her colour palette was a soft combination of pale plaster, warm white tones, and a glorious Sanderson floral wallpaper in the shower.
This chest of drawers was full of holes, bashed, with missing chunks, and the drawers didn’t run properly. They do now. The base colour is Isabelline from Craig & Rose which is white with a tiny hint of pink. I then created the design, using a stencil, with ochre and russet stipples then hand painted the white and green flecks with a tiny black dot, to tie in with the handles and the wallpaper.
